Book Reviews

I'm going to dedicate this blog post to recommending some of my favorite childhood books. I'm pretty sure everyone has heard of the Percy Jackson series, The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Fault in Our Stars, The Maze Runner, etc, etc. So I want to bring some attention to the not-so-hyped-up books that made up my childhood (There is not that many since I was a pretty mainstream child). So without further ado, here are some of my favorite children books. (Please excuse if the reviews that I write aren't all that detailed, I haven't read many of these books in years.)

Plot Summary: Emmy was a good girl. At least she tried very hard to be good. She did her homework without being told. She ate all her vegetables, even the slimy ones. And she never talked back to her nanny, Miss Barmy, although it was almost impossible to keep quiet, some days.
She really was a little too good. Which is why she liked to sit by the Rat. The Rat was not good at all.
My review: This book I bought randomly in elementary school cause I thought it looked like a really weird story, but the cover looked cool so I was like "Oh, I don't care, lol, yolo" My first attempt reading this story, I was a little confused with the story so I put the book down for a bit. When I actually finished the book, I was really in love with the story. It was so cute, and I connected with the main character, Emmy was ignored by her classmates and even her parents during the beginning of the story, but was able to overcome that when she became friends with the Rat, went on this amazing adventure, and made friends along the way.

Series of Unfortunate Events (The Bad Beginning) Blurb: There is nothing to be found in the pages of A Series of Unfortunate Events but misery and despair. You still have time to choose another international best-seller to read. But if you must know what unpleasantries befall the charming and clever Baudelaire children read on...
In The Bad Beginning the three youngsters encounter a greedy and repulsive villain, itchy clothing, a disastrous fire, a plot to steal their fortune and cold porridge for breakfast. Then again, why trouble yourself with the unfortunate resolutions?
Personal Review: Lemony Snicket is a genius. He is one of the most creative authors and the way he writes is so artistic, and so clever. He is most definitely one of my most favorite authors of all time. I believe the only reason that I may have a love for big words, reading, and witty writing is because of these stories. I loved every book up to the very end, all thirteen. That really surprised me since I originally thought that the book series was going to spiral downwards since it was stretched out for so long, but I really enjoyed it. I especially loved how the three Baudelaire children were so intelligent and were able to think out of the box ways to get out of difficult situations, also I loved how I was able to see how the characters grew throughout the series. Again, this is probably one of my favorite book series of all times and I highly recommend it to anyone.

That's a wrap for this post, hope you enjoyed :)
